the earth laughs in flowers

In November 2022 Lily Rigby came together with her fellow artist, Amy McMillan, to share a project that would exhibit both artists’ individual relationships with intuition as a catalyst for creativity. The show featured Lily’s latest abstract oil paintings and Amy’s hand-built ceramics.

The artists’ concept of sharing an exhibition was a holistic experiment, placing paintings and hand-built ceramics into the same environment.  Both artists work with layers, even though they use different mediums to explore themes of movement and transformation; new phases of life.  This bold and celebratory show emerged from the artists’ investigations into phenomena such as birth, flora and fauna, fertile grounds and bodies, and both natural and psychological cycles of transformation.
